Mini piling and CFA piles lead to an Isle of Man invasion

July and August have seen us install mini piles and CFA piles on the Isle of Man

Although we have previously worked on the Isle of Man, two recent piling contracts have raised the bar for us on the island.

Firstly, mini piling was required at the new northern swimming pool at Ramsay where we were the piling contractor. A combination of 220mm and 325mm diameter drop weight driven steel cased piles were required at the new complex. A total of 266no. mini piles were driven on this contract.

Secondly, we were also the piling contractor at the new extension to the Heron and Brearley Brewery at Douglas. On this contract a total of 78no. CFA piles were required to be installed. These CFA piles were 450mm in diameter and designed to have a SWL of 650kN.

Experience has certainly been gained from these contracts especially the logistics of simultaneously carrying out contracts for mini piling and CFA piles away from the mainland.
