Case Studies - Hillstone Developments: New Housing Development at Barnsley

Recently we have installed the specialist foundations for a new housing development at Barnsley.

The location for this development was an old petrol station on Pontefract Rd, Barnsley where the ground conditions determined that piles were required for any new building work. A total of 60 new dwellings consisting of a mixture of both houses and apartments are to be built on the site by Hillstone Developments.

The installation of the piles commenced earlier this year and a total of 308no. 140mm diameter thick wall steel tubes were driven to depths of 12 metres. The top drive piling rig can be seen here.

Once piles had been installed excavation was carried out by the main contractor. We then returned to construct shuttering for the reinforced ground beams before installing the steel. The reinforced steel cages can be seen here prior to pumping concrete to complete the beams.
